First Day Blues

Date July 2, 2007

Hello Everyone,
It’s not really the first day blues. This will be a little fun. I promise. First, let’s get you started with your assignments for today. Please have this completed by Monday night.

  • Check your email for the Grouptivity discussion email.
  • Log in to Grouptivity: your current email address and what ever password you set up. When you initially visit the site, you are automatically logged in, but when you return, you’ll need a password. A temporary password was sent to you via email. Check your in box.
  • Click on the Discussion 1 in Grouptivity.
  • Reply to the post by Dr. Cooper: Choose one issue that we face today with personal freedoms and explain the issue as you see it.
  • After your first post, read of few (2-3) responses posted by your classmates. Choose one and reply to it.

Discussion posts must be a minimum of 5 sentences for them to count as a post. If you haven’t written enough, just post another reply to one of your classmates.
Please feel free to continue the discussion. You are not limited to the number of posts you can make in any discussion.

In order to talk intelligently about the class theme of personal freedoms, you should listen to the podcast on Introduction to Personal Freedoms.

One final note:

  • Everyone needs to update their nickname in Grouptivity so I know who you are when you discuss. Use your first name or something that has your first or last name in it. Both names are not needed. Click on My Profile at the top middle. Type your real name in the box next to Display Name.
  • You might also want to change your delivery settings so you don’t get an email every time someone posts. Click Change Settings on right side (orange button) and choose the second option: Every 1 day.
  • Finally, be sure to update your email address in Blackboard.
